agreed. crosses can be great, when done properly. if not, genetic flaws can be passed on to the "new" breed.

Hello all, was on my favorite rifle site and we had a thread on the Best survival Dog/s, like capp says cross breeding can be very good if done properly and that brings us to Rottie genetics, where a mixed rottie owner touted that the mixes live longer and have less in-breeding type problems, I believe that can be true.
For a long time now I have wanted to breed a Large Male rott with a Mastiff or Bull Mastiff, or an Newfoundland, a friend had an Newf/rott mix that was one of the best dogs I have known, lived a long happy life and was the best babysitter for the two girls he was charged with, saved one from drowning at the lake, doesn't get better than that.

Rotties love to swim too! Could be quite the aquatic dog! Water polo, anyone?

I'm rather hoping so. I would love to train up a dog for some sort of activity. I'll have to poke around the forum and see if I can't get some ideas on here!

This is a very old thread. Why have you added spam as your signature?

Once they learn to swim they will love it for life. Also, consider looking into carting. Rotts love it.
