    First Training Collar

    Hi!

Currently Astrid is wearing a buckle collar, but it's time to look towards a training collar to help with her newly developed selective hearing. In the past I've started with a very lightweight metal slip collar, but would love to hear from others in this group what has worked best for you. She's currently four months old and 28 lbs.

    TIA!

I like a martingale collar. It a simple nylon collar with some chain. If fitted right, it gives a little pressure and makes it impossible for the pup/dog to back out of. All of the pups/dogs at our local shelter wear one, and are adopted out with one.

Great! She's fully vaccinated now, so we can really start to venture out and her obedience classes start next week. The gentle tug on the buckle collar is no longer getting her attention when she finds something she feels needs to be closely inspected, which is literally everything - lol!
