Hi, I have a Rottweiler pup that’s just turned 7 months, we did not have him from a pup we got him at 5 months from another family that were having another baby and said they couldn’t cope with him anymore. He keeps biting not in an aggressive way but when playing or wants attention. This is becoming a problem because he doesn’t understand how hard he bites sometimes as it can be very light one time and very hard the next. He gets walked and gets attention basically throughout the hole day. He is crate trained. We will be playing with a toy and he will suddenly let go and nibble or bite at my leg. We have a 2 year old girl who he is great with most of the time until he tries to get something out of her hand and will nibble on her arm. He will nip at the back of our legs sometimes when walking in the house. We’ve tried putting him in his crate or ignoring him for 30-60 seconds. I need help! I do not want to get rid of him but if he carries on I will have to which will break my heart.

Welcome to the forums!! It sounds like your pup was not trained as a pup to stop the biting and nipping and now it's become a habit. Nothing that training will not correct. You need to get some professional help with hands on experience. Get enrolled into an obedience class or get a trainer to come to your home to get some help. Looks up some youtube videos for 'older pup biting and nipping'. There are quite a few videos that may be able to get you started before you can get some hands on help.

Have you had a dog before? What do you do when your pup starts nipping??

Our trainer got us on a shock collar for unwanted behaviour. You could try one as well as trainer, it will surely get rid on the nipping and biting. A little shock and a firm no will stop the biting in short order.
