Max weighed in at 38 pounds today.Vet says he is very healthy for his age and is gonna be HUGE!! He said most pups dont have the muscle tone like he does at 13 weeks.Between me and my son we run him outside quiet abit so maybe that has something to do with it.his front paws are 2 1/2 inches wide LOL.His head does not seem to be that big thou? Vet said he does not have fleas ethier.to dry around here for them.I really dont want him to get over weight,so I will be taking Dan's advice here and have feeding times. What I want to know is......is this normal for him to get this big, this fast? thanks for all info

all puppies grow different it depends on the lines.

If you are feeding him puppy food take him off and feed him adult. It is better for them to grow slower.

Do not over run run as it is not good for his little bones.Let him play but don't over do it.

And once again Donna
She hit the nail right on the head with her answer. But, then again we all know she usually won't steer you wrong.

I try not to.I just don't want people making any mistakes that might hurt their dog in the long run.You do not want him to grow to fast as it is not good for bone growth.Puppy food has to much protein in it for Rottweiler puppies, and you could end up with health issues later on down the road. Not saying it will happen but why take a chance.

Donna would it be ok to mix the two together? puppy food and adult ...
If you are going to switch them to adult use up all the puppy food you have.

I start all my pupppy's on puppy food, but by the time they are 8 weeks old and ready to leave the house they are on adult.I would rather have a dog still growing at 3 then be all grown up at 1.

Donna , you have them on adult at 8 weeks ? does it have enough of the right stuff for a growing puppy? I guess it does or you wouldn't feed it to your pups. I think I'll just mix the two untill the puppy food is gone, I know it will make it alot easier at feeding time making sure who gets what ! but I think I'll keep them on puppy can food till a year . The pups seem to be at a normal growing rate so far....... thanks for the tip !!!
Donna,The vet had me take him off of puppy food when he went in for his 1st vist.I think he was 9 weeks old at that point.I thought he was crazy but he explained the same thing you just said.
