Hi, I'm new on this site so if I'm not doing this right please excuse me, I'll figure it out sooner or later. I have a 4 yr. old neutered male rottie (german) he's about 150lbs. and I am about 110 lbs. I take him on walks everyday and I must say I think as he ages he's become more mature about this "little" (yeah right!) problem he and I have encountered. When he comes upon another dog walking on a leash with its proud owner, he goes NUTS!!! He puts on this big show and crys like I beating himhalf to death...ya know the argh, argh, argh...that you would hear at the pound, or a sound that you wouldn't think came from a rottie thats for sure. Dramatically crying or screaming, (which is loud, way abnoxious, and makes all the neighbors come to their windows or patios) this is where the REAL problem is.....he is pulling me so hard that I have hit the ground, grass, gravel and feel like I'm doing some sort of stupid sport that should involve water. Not to mention the grass stains on my jeans!! So this has got to stop and I can not let him get away with this again because today was the worst...I have spoiled the heck out of this dog and love him more than anything, he sleeps like a person next to me and is a big cuddle bunny. I wish when he was a puppy I would have disciplined him more and had some "rules" this puppy I used to bring breakfast in bed to, they are so cute as puppies and you forget that they are going to be REALLY strong and big. So for you new puppy owners take some advice and have rulesand be more strickt becuase it will pay off and yourpuppy will be a better DOG.. I am also a female my dog is a male so he constantly test me to who is the boss.. Like if I tell him to get out of the kitchen he takes the long way. I know he knows I am a girl and not an Alpha(man) and this is sort of a problem or he's justpushing the envelope with mesometimes(more new puppy advice). Don't get me wrong when push comes to shove I do Win and he's a good boy for the most part.I am not sure I know how to discipline him correctly. Do I leave him outside fortwo hours? No Bones? No attention? Lockhim in the bathroom? What??? I have the heaviest kind of collar that have the thick prongswith boots!! The collar I use looks pretty hardcore and I wish I did not have to be so extreme but Jeeezzz!I can NOTbe pulled down the street or lawn or whatever. He is also intimating to other people when we are approaching them, it seems most "other" dog owners are scared to death from a rottie. So this creates choas for everyone involved, becuase as much as I try to get out, "He's Friendly, He's Nice, Don't worry" while being pulled all over and trying to regain controlis just not savy. He would never in a million yrs. hurt another dog, unless of course the dog was aggessive towards him he will stand his ground for sure. I had a mini yorkie who was maybe 2lbs. and he never did a thing to her except love her, we both miss her, bless her little heart..she just passed away about 2 and half months ago. Boy was that fun walking the both of them at the same time... I could write a novel here so I'd better quit NOW! Thank you for reading this and any advice or help would be so appreciated for the both of us and our fellow "other" dog walkers...Thanks Again
