I was wondering if there was a way to get your rottie to like playing in water?

It is a fight just to give Dally a bath. We love to swim in the summer. There is a big lake that everyone goes to. I would love to take Dally, but she will not swim with us. I have even tryed walking her to the edge just to get her feet wet.
She is not will not get close. I get those looks like I know you are not going to try to get me in there. Or The look that I have just lost my mind for thinking she might like to play in it.

I know Dally would do anything I do 99.9 % of the time. But not when it come to water.

PLEASE HELP. Shell

Some like water some don't.When it would rain out Zelda would poop on top of the dog house so she did not have to set in water.

I think if you want her to like water start small.get a baby pool and see if she will go in it,don't make her do anything she is going to hate to do.Some princess just don't like to get there hair messed up.

She thinks her queen self should not get wet at all. When it rains here she poops on the porch.
Her kennel has a small hole in the tarp, she lets you know quick she wants on the porch cuz she is getting wet. Will try the pool thing 1st. (She is losing her pool in my room & going back on the mat. shhhh she does not know yet.)

I started Ariel as a puppy with a little kiddy pool. I bought one of those little electric swimmers. Ariels watched it for a few seconds and started putting her paws in. Within a few minutes she was standing in the kiddy pool. She never felt we were pressuring her and now she loves the water. Every puddle is an invitation to play.

Always start small and praise for even getting her toes wet.

I tryed the lake one time, and she was about to get in till my kids spashed water in her face.
Now I have to start all over. We will get there. I know if she sees kids in the kiddy pool she will have to get in to. That is how we tought her to play football. She picked it up from the kids. I will get the kids she likes to play with here and let them play in it. No spashing and she will get in just to play with them.(I hope) I got her when she was 9 month old. So starting her from when she was little should have been on the other owners. But we will get there. Shell
