I think Duke is sick HELP

Well he started mopping around like 3 weeks ago, and his nose is always warm and dry but before it was wet andcold. Well the other day after the dog show i stoped at my friends mom's house so she could see Duke and she has 2 dogs, well duke said hi and everything then went back outside, well after that she was talking to me about her dogs and told me one had broncitis and then was like OH my gosh i'm so sorry i forgot and its contagious, Don't worry donna this was after. But now Duke is coughing alot and gagging and stuff. So I really don't have all the money in the world to take him to the vet and i was wondering if anyone knew anything that i could get for him without spending a pretty penny. And i have human antibotics, they are amoxicillon the regular, i haven't gave him any but i was wondering if that would be ok to give him? I feel horrible cause i didn't know and she didn't tell me till after and he was sick before and i was giving him vitamin C but he doens't like to eat it, he eats all the way around the pill and leaves it, but man he's really hurting now you can tell all he does is sleep he's not Dukie. Any suggestions on what i should do to make him feel better until i can get the money for the vet which will be like 2 possibly 3 weeks. I have to start working full time after i graduate. Right now i'm barley working. Thanks Ally

Try childrens cough medicine.I use the grape flavor on my dogs.


Does she mean kennel cough?If it is kennel cough just wait it out.once they have it you can not fight it.Once they have that strain I heard they are imune for three years(there are lots of strains tho).

I would get him to the vet. Don't tell them you don't have the cash until there done working on him. If it we're my dog I would do it. He's your boy and you knows whats best. Keep us posted on what happens. Good luck Ally.

Well Rotty you made good sence there !!! Take him to the vet !! and do what Rotty said ...... I would...... then make payments ..

You can use robbitussen for the cough Use the DM kind just plain no other additives. I would be best if you took him to the vet though.

Yeah the vet is the best way to go and they will usually work with you on payments their not all heartless.

Well sorry it took so long, i'm not in school and i babysit all the time, but i took him to the vet and he gave him 2 different antibotics and told me to give them to him 2 tablets of each2 times a day until they are gone so i have been and they aren't all gone yet but close. He doesn't cough as much but sometimes a little bit and he got sick throwing up like 4 times the other day. I;ve been keeping an eye on him hope he gets better. The vet did say any kind of cough they call kennel cough but his lungs sounded clean and he just thought it was a respitority infection. What happens if they do have kennel cough. My mom told me that it can kill him if it doesn't get taken care of. I'll try to get on the computer when i can and i'll keep in touch. Ally

Glad to hear you got him to the vet ..... Dont worry he will be fine .... I had ti take Sampson to 2 vets as the first one wouldnt do anymore with him and he was still sick .... Had the same things ..... a bad cough and mucus pouring from his nose ....

So dont let the vet tell you nothing can be done GET another opinion if need be .... The second vet i went to was giving him steriod shots cause he was so weak as well as other medicines ...

Dont get discouraged ..... There are many avenues for HELP out there ..... I told you / or posted the ( imom.org ) and i tryed to post one for ( what you can do if you are having trouble affording vetrinary care . html ) BUT it wouldnt link up so here it is ( www.hsus.org ) go here and look for HELP with vet bills .... LOTS of info there as well as ... .. ( www.pets911.com )
