Hi everyone,
I have a new rottweiler puppy, well, not actually a puppy. She is 8 months old and her previous owner didn't want her after she was no longer small and fluffy. My rottweiler of 10 years died the day after Thanksgiving and I have been missing her ever since. I fell in love with this pup from the moment She pup her paws on my shoulders when I was sitting on the floor with her and laid her head down on my shoulder. This also saved her from being a kennel dog. I have only had her home for 2 days so I have a lot of issues to work through. She still roams through the house and will not settle down. I put her in her crate and she settles down. I know that a kennel is what she is used to but I don't want her to spend her entire time in a crate. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm anxious to read the tags from everyone. Has anyone ever used the steps that fit on the hitch of a jeep. If so how did they work. She goes up steps like a champ but refuses to use a ramp. This is me and my baby. She is still getting used to everything so I will have more exploits later. Thanks for letting me join. LAter.

Welcome to the forums! It's great that you took this girl in and she has a new home. I would caution you to take things slowly with her. Everything is new to her and you must give her time to settle in. If she is happy in the crate, leave her crated for now. She needs to feel relaxed ,and by allowing her to roam around it may just be exciting her and making her restless. For at least the first 2-3 weeks take it easy with her so she gets to know you. Don't start taking her places or visiting friends or family. That can come later when she has bonded with you. Don't give her too much freedom in the house and try to keep to a routine. Once she is settled in, get her signed up for some obedience classes. This is a great way to build a bond. What is her name? and where are the pictures? :)
