Here is my Maximus at 2 months old.

Here is Maximus at 18 months. Currently he is at 105 pounds. Can anyone tell me if he skinny or just right. Vet says he is nice and healthy but I have seen so many others that are really wide. When do they start getting wider?

no he is not skinny. He could stand to be a tad leaner from the pic you posted. I have a few pics the vet gave me on what a rott should look like. He says you should barley be able to see the hint of there ribs. Keep in mind this is what he said. As far as the wide, dunno. I would assume it's all in the jeans? Stick around, the gurls <-----Girls will be here shortly and give you some better advice. Good lookin boy ya got there.

Dogs grow up for nine months then they grow out,it's hard to say how long they will grow out,unless you know the line.The line I have grows for at least 3 years.Lines that grow slower are always better


Trim nails a few times a week.a little here a little there it will help(always have quick stop around when doing nails in case you hit the quick.

He's seems just fine to me and don't worry he'll get wider just give him time. He'll come into his own he's already a good size now. You do have a good looking dog there. Now about the nails, most of the time I don't have to trim my 2 rotts nails cause I walk them outside on the cement sidewalks and that will keep them down but occasionally I do have to trim them and like Donna said just do it a little bit at a time and eventually you'll get them where they need to be!

Hi mge_1.... welcome to the club .... trimming nails can be trickie.... but what Donna and Missy said is the trick ( no pun intended)

snip alittle here and there ....start playing with his feet alot and maybe that will help ya also ....instead of quick stop I use crazy glue .... but I haven't had to do that in a long time .... I trim my rottys nails all the time ( I have 4 ) I also use a nail trimmer that has a saftey guard on it so you can't cut to close .... by the way you have a nice big boy there !!!
