Hello I’m new to having a Rottweiler and she’s 6 weeks old and I feed her twice a day. Someone just told me I should be feeding her 5x a day which seems like a lot but is that true should I be feeding her that much.

Welcome to the forums! Your puppy at 6 weeks is too young to be taken away from her mother and littermates. It is illegal to sell a puppy before 8 weeks of age. :( She should be spending time with her littermates still, and learning bite inhibition. You may have problems later because she was taken away too young.
She should be eating a top quality large breed puppy food at least 3 times per day. ....till around 5-6 month of age. You can go to two meals after that. Please take her to your vet and make sure she is healthy and has been wormed...it sounds like she has not come from a good breeder.:(

Oh no that’s not good 😬 now I’m worried. Thanks I’m going to take her asap and look into that. I hope it won’t be any horrible problems because I have a 1 year old daughter that she’s going to be around. Thank you so much

A baby puppy, and a one year old baby are not a good combination! Well bred Rottweiler pups that leave at 8 weeks can be very mouthy and trying...you have a pup that comes from a BYB ( no good breeder would be letting go of a puppy at 6 weeks or selling a pup with someone that has a 1 year old child).....and will most likely be mouthy. Can you return the puppy? If not, find a Rottweiler rescue and they will find her a great home that has been screened.

Have you had a Rottweiler before? Have you had a dog before?? I volunteered for Rottweiler rescue for many years and did the application screenings. Rottweilers usually do well with kids in their family...but we did not adopt out dogs to families with kids under 5. They are big, clumsy dogs...that can knock kids down easily...and they can be bity and mouthy when young. Having a one year old child is very time consuming also....teething, potty training coming up, often getting up at night, etc. A Rottweiler puppy will also go through the same things...plus you need to have time for training. Training with this breed is a must....you need the time and energy for this. You have a baby...and your time will be spread thin...and something will have to be sacrificed. This is not an easy breed to raise. :(

No I’ve never had a Rottweiler but I did have a Siberian husky who I raised with my 12 yr old son so I know it’s a lot of work to raise a baby and a dog but I’m a stay at home mom who loves dogs and my kids so I don’t mind putting all the time into them. I just joined this group to see if I could find out things about Rottweilers. And I got her because I heard they are wonderful family dogs.

She should still be with mum and siblings until she is at least 8 weeks old! Shame on the back-yard-breeder who sold her to you at that age.. and with a child in the house and no prior Rottweiler experience. Did you do any research before purchasing her? I don't mean to to be harsh but you should have done some basic research and known that she was too young to be separated.

I agree with the above suggestion - get her into the vet ASAP if you haven't already. She should have a full wellness exam and they are the best place to get information about feeding (she should be getting puppy-specific food for a while). If you are committed to her you will also NEED to work with a trainer and spend a lot of time and finances on training. Rottweilers can be the most lovely dogs but they are a dominant breed and very strong .. that can be dangerous if they are not properly trained, handled and respected. Huskies are difficult in their own way but they don't have the same challenges that rotties do, in my opinion.
