Hello, We have a rott puppy and found this forum. SO wanted to say hello. The little rott puppy we got we are going to use as a livestock guardian dog. He loves the goats and enjoys sleeping with them and playing with them. Hope to meet a bunch of nice people.

I think I will introduce myself first off-My name is Scarlet, I am a x-ray tech. Not in a hospital, so no medical questions please!
I read results for automotive parts, suspension systems, things like that. I am not sure if I belong here yet, as I don't have a puppy yet.I won't be picking him up until the 21st, and I'm real excited. His name will be Apollo-Apolloniusz Leonides Maximus if you want to get technical, LOL! Quite a mouthful, huh? He's a cute little bugger. He will be 8 weeks old when I pick him up. I am a little nervous though, as I had a puppy 3 and1/2 years ago who got parvo. The vet said he must have had it when we got him as we only had him a little over a week and he got sick. It broke my heart when he died, we tried everything. The IV's, shots, everything. Nothing worked. My concern is if this puppy could get it. In case your wondering, I'm a good mom and will make sure he has his shots before I bring him home, but the information on parvo is so varied I don't know what to think. We are going to "clean" our yard with a bleach and water combo before we bring him home. I hope everyone is friendly here, as I would like a place to ask questions, and be able to talk to people about my new baby(once I get him).

If your breeder is doing everything correctley then I would not worry to much.It can happen as you well know but don't worry about the what if's.

Has your breeder had litters before?are you getting any guarentees?did you get a contract?

APOLLO IS COMING FROM A BREEDER. SHE HAS BRED KING CHARLES SPANIELS, AND PEKES BEFORE. THIS IS HER FIRST LITTER OF ROTTS. THE DAM IS 2 YRS OLD, AND SEEMS WELL SOCIALIZED. SHE IS AROUND YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE HOME, AND WAS NERVOUS WHEN I LOOKED AT HER PUPS BUT NOT AGRESSIVE. I WILL GET A 6 MO GUARANTEE FOR GENETIC DEFECTS, A PUPPY STARTER KIT, SHOTS, WORMING , TAIL DOCKED, DEW CLAWS REMOVED, AND A FUZZY BUNDLE OF JOY. SHE ALSO HAD THE SIRE BROUGHT OVER SO I COULD SEE HIM AS WELL. THE LITTER HAD 11 PUPPIES. IS THIS NORMAL IN A BIG BREED? ALL ARE DOING WELL EXCEPT THE NEW MOM LAID ON ONE OF THEM, SO THERE ARE ONLY 10.</BLOCKQUOTE>

She sounds like she is trying to do things right.Does she show or just breed?

Was the mother and fathers hips certified?most good Rottweiler breeders give you a guarintee for over 2 years as hips can not be x-rayed untill they are two.

I can look up your puppiesparents history if you like.just send me their names and AKC numbers.

she didnt say anything about a hip guarantee. Should i be worried? she is just a breeder, doesnt do show. The grand sire is Gil Crni Lotos. He was in show. Have you heard of him? The parents of the pup are not show though, just family pets. Thats okay as i dont know anything about showing animals and only wanted a family pet. i will try to remember to keep the caps lock off.

Dozer is from the Gil Crni Lotos .My puppy will be ckc. She charged me 350.00 for him. She never said anything about their hips and nothing in the contract that i signed. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Is the mother CKC Canadian Kennel Club-good

CKC Continental Kennel Club-puppy mill registery

Even if you are paying only 350.00 for a puppy you still deserve a puppy free of any health concerns.Problems can happen to anyone one who breeds, but the breeder should take responsibilty for those it has created.

ckc-continental kennel club. What classifies apuppy as from a puppy mill? I did not see alot of dogs there, and she seemed very professional and the puppies well cared for. I have been there a couple of times to look at the puppies, the last time to choose the one I wanted. She keeps in contact with me through e-mail and gives me updates on how he is doing. your statement confuses me.</BLOCKQUOTE>
