Hello everyone! We're new to the forum and also first time Rottie
owners. My husband and I have recently retired and decided we
were finally at a time in our lives where we could devote the time
deserved to a new member of our family.

Harley is 5 months old and we've had him since he was 8 weeks. We
are sooooo in love with this dog. He has the sweetest
personality, he's by far the most intelligent dog we've ever owned (but
then, aren't all Rotties?)

We love this forum. There is soooo much information here....for
the new and experienced. Thank you to all who devote so much time
here sharing their tips, advise and personal experience, it's been so
helpful to us!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! We live in Le Raysville, Pa. ....with all of the Amish
.
In fact, we had Harley with us when we stopped at the little 'Amish
store' in town recently...just as we got out of the car, a horse and
buggy pulled up. Harley didn't know what to think of that HUGE
dog pulling that buggy
.

I don't know if I can say this or not.......I've been on another forum
for a few months and felt very uncomfortable and almost
unwelcomed. I can tell already.....you guys are much friendlier
and I feel like I could ask any of you anything without fearing getting
my head bit off or being made a fool of. Thanks!

Harley's Mama, we all probably know the site or one like it there are several out there ! Been there ...... They are not nice at all !!! They do make you feel like your unfit or not responsible enough to own a rott if your don't train professionally or show ! Here us commoners can post or chat ( join us it's over on the left )and have a good time talking about our rotts ..........

Kitty, thank you! I was beginning to feel like it was just
me....glad to hear you've been there and understand (but sad to hear
someone else had to experience it). I'll be the first to admit, I
have lots to learn about this breed, both my husband and myself.
But that doesn't make us irresponsible......our desire to learn makes
us the exact opposite. We don't train Harley with a professional,
but if the need arises, I won't hesitate. I feel we're doing a
great job with the info available in books, the internet and our
consistent, daily training, however, I would never admit that on
another forum. We love our puppy enough and have enough respect
for him to raise him with manners and respect for us! Thanks
again.

Harley's Mama , your welcome ...and for sure it's not you ! It's those other sites ! Glad to have you here .... we are all still learning about our pups everyday thats why we are here ..... not to be criticized like they do on those other sites ! I think everyone here is a responsible owner or they wouldn't be here . I have trained my own dogs for years and they are good citizens , raised with love, affection, mannersand obedience ...again welcome !
