I would like to beg people who are instered in a rottie to think of rescuing one of these loving dogs from a shelter.I have rescued two from a kill shelter, They have been the most loving and giving dogs i have ever had. These dogs are wonderfull friends and family members. We have two now ,one from a shelter titan he is my big boy rescued from the shelter one day before being put to [sleep] or killed. He is a wonderfull and loving dog.My girl shawnee is a sweet heart and the apple of my eye.We are also fostering a lovely girl who was going to be killed at a shelter. If you would like to have a rottie be ready for a loving friend that wants to go everywere you go.They enjoy being with their people. Please don't buy from back yard breeders who only breed for the money. The shelters are full of rotties who have no one to love them,And as i have said rescued rotties are wonderfull dogs. Please check your local shelter often ,if you would like one of these dogs. The shelters will not let you know somtimes that they have rotties unless you are checking with them often.Rescue you won't be sorry.

We got our boy from a shelter via local animal control. He had been neglected by his previous "owners" so was taken from them by animal control. The AC officer held onto him for almost 3 weeks, they are only suuposed to hang onto them for 5 days and if they can not get the dog into a rescue or shelter then they are supposed to have them PTS. But the AC officer thought he was such a nice boy that she held onto him longer than she was supposed to. And he is a nice boy. He's very affectionate and loves everybody.
Aint that the truth... Sometimes i wonder just who saved who here ....I have a 2 1/2 year old that i rescued at the age of 6 months ... he was on death row as well, with 6 of his 7 day stay behind him i found him ... i always say " it was the best 35 dollars i ever spent " ... I saved him again from the vets , he was real sick after the first 3 weeks , it took me two vets to get him well ... The first vet gave up on us saying he had no clue what was wrong with Sampson ... Another vet was also not sure , however after 3 months of LOVE and CARE ... I am happy to say I have the BEST friend anyone could ever have ... Even those who are scared of the reputation these gentle giants have , have to remark to me how beutiful Sampson is ... After 2 years he is still showing me what he knows ... I will never have another breed again ... and will watch the shelters in my area faithfully ......

I did rescue for about 6 years,I just could not handle putting other peoples dogs down.It was way to hard on me so I had to stop.I have great respect for the people who deciede to take on such a big job.It can be very rewarding but also a big heart ache.

Hello, I'm new here and I'm a foster mom for a Rottie Rescue. My baby started out as a foster, we fell in love with him and here he stays. He is 12 weeks old and 42 lbs of big baby. When we got him he had rickets and an upper respiratory infection, he sat in the shelter for over a month b/c he had problems and nobody wanted him. We put him on a suppliment, good puppy food, and an antibiotic and in less then a week you would never have known there was anything wrong with him. He would have been PTS if the rescue hadn't pulled him and we were the lucky ones to get to foster him. He is my 9 yr old son's best friend and a wonderful addition to our family.
well i work with an all breed rescue and a strickly rottie rescue and i wouldnt give it up for the world most of the rotts that we get are anywhere from 1year and up most of the rotts that are older seem to be with us for the longest and it breaks my heart becasue they are all good dogs and they deserve a home of their own and not to be in a shelter all the time but that is another issue with the breed most people see a rottweiler and are like stay away because of their bad rep and that is just sad because rottweilers were not bred for that. i have a 1 year old now and he is just wonderful! If you want to see some of the rottweilers we have i will post them out there. but your right it is hard to see them without a home.
I have a friend Peggy who does rescue and her site is

yeah...it's amazing what these dogs can go thru and still give us the love that they do and trust us once they see that you aren't out to hurt them also. glad to hear yours is doing so well, keep up the good work.
We have a rescue rottie that we got almost 4 weeks ago,,,if rescue rotties are all as good as the litle girl we got,,I cant stress enough,,go take a look at thesse dogs if your looking for a loving companion. sure they dont have papers but if you love the breed and dont have to have a show dog ,papers dont matter. Our Zena is the best little 1 year old girl..we have her in obedience class and shes doing good,,got her to go down stairs to the rec room in the basement {she was deathly afraid if the stairs},sleeps with us at night, goes into her crate by herself, lets you cut her toenails,,and even take food and treats away from her. So please give a rescue rottie a try,,you might be surprised. We were. We got Zena from the wisconsin rottweiler rescue run by Joan Sweeney

awesome post.I did look at the shelter here before I bought my pup. They had one rott. They gave a run down of him and said he was not a real nice guy but could be straighten out with proper training.I would have went that route but my son wanted a pup real bad so I did not.I feel bad now after reading this thread.
Well you all know about
my rescued rott ... But since my
mom has moved to Fla. they have fallen
in LOVE with each other ... Theres
no way i could even think of
parting with him ... But she is an
elderly person and i want her

shelters in my area to NO

...
If anyone knows of any Rotts
looking for a good home PLEASE

Our Zena is from Missouri,,she was owned by a single mom with 3 kids who decided she couldnt take care of the dog anymore.Joan at Rottweiler rescue told us all about her.She also told us a couple had looked at Zena the week before we got to see her and just about took her ..they also had a 1 year old male who we were interested in but when Zena first came out she ran over to my wife and gave her a big kiss,,,that was it,,,end of story,,love at first sight, and she had such pretty eyes. At the time we were there,,Joan nhad 22 dogs waiting for adoption
I would love to help out for a rescue but I can't afford any more dogs at this time. I give my total respect for all that can and do help out because I can't stand to see dogs being abused or not being cared for properly. If people can't afford the expense or time for a dog they really should get any yet people do. My hats off to all of you that help out!!!
