Rottweiler History

Hi, I am an author developing a story that takes place in the early 1950's and would like to incorporate a Rottweiler into the story. My sister's family just lost their beloved Libby after nine years - this is my way of endearing her.

However, I am not sure when the breed was introduced in the U.S. and how prevalent Rottweilers would have been in 1951 Pittsburgh. Can anyone help?

Rottweilers came to the states in the1928 there were not alot of them here ,the first dog regestered with the AKC was in 1931.

3 Germans mirgrated to Amer. with Rottweilers they were all located in New York,Forest Hills,Scarsdale, and Long Island.

So they could has been around in that area at that time.

Donna is right on the money from what I researched last week.
It helps to have a wholebook shelf full of books just about Rottweilers.

I have Old German books, books about England and Austrailian Rottweilers.Love the photos and pedigrees.
