My wife and I recently lost one of our rotties to cancer. We still have one with us. We are seeking a breeder who adheres to ADRK standards. We do not want to work with a breeder who docks tails.

We live in NC but are willing to drive to the right breeder. Shipping is only ok if the puppy is accompanied by a person and can ride in the passenger area of the plane. Otherwise the breeder needs to be within a day’s drive so we can pick up the baby.

We love this breed and have a lot of respect for breeders who have dedicated themselves to these amazing dogs.

Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry to hear that you have lost one of your Rotties to cancer. It's very common in this breed...and they never are with us long enough.
What breeder did you get your other dog from?? What plans do you have with your future pup?? Not sure if Sieger shows are going to be starting again in the spring? That would be the place to start. You may want to look up some info on this website? I know it's from 2019 ...but look up the kennel names of the winning dogs...that may get you started in looking, or even a breeder that may be able to advise you to a good breeder in your area. Both of our dogs came from Guardian Rottweilers.

We are looking for a pet. We aren’t interested in showing our dogs.

Covid has really made things more complicated. I don’t know when we can expect shows to resume.

I read the "what to look for in a breeder" post and have been trying to find breeders who fit this bill: "AT MINIMUM have OFA certified hips and a CARDIOLOGIST (or specialist) OFA cardiac clearance (NOT a practitioner one- look at the number C=cardiologist, S=specialist, P=practitioner) . Elbows should be OFA evaluated as well and should not have UAP, FCP or OCD. and DJD rating should not be higher than a 1."

I haven't found one breeder that meets those requirements. NONE, ZIP, NADA. I've been using the ofa.org site to check on dogs in breeding programs.

At this point it would be more helpful to know if any breeders exist in the USA that meet those requirements. Any suggestions?

I just saw a nice advertisement for some really nice looking dogs at Serenity Rottweilers with Von Bremen Rottweilers...both dogs have their CHIC numbers. Do a google search for more info on these breeders. They may know of other breeders in your area.

Also look up 'Von Herrschend Rottweilers' ...I know that they do all of the health certs...not sure if they are doing a breeding though?
