Hi

My Rottweiler is a 15 monhs old bitch and starting to become very stubborn . On walks on the lead, if we don't take the route she wants to take, that she stops dead and won't move. The other evening while crossing a road we got halfway and she stopped and sat there, she wouldn't move for love nor money, luckily I doubled back and she did the same.
While not new to dogs I am new to this breed. Is this a Rottweiler trait and how best to stop her doing this as it is now happening each time we go out..

Welcome to the forums! I've never really found the breed stubborn...I would say sometimes a bit headstrong. They want their way...and may complain when you don't comply. This could mean that there is a problem with your leadership, and some training problems. She just may need more motivation to learn to listen to you...and you may need to change your training techniques.

How much formal training has she had? such as being in obedience training classes? How much training do you do with her daily?? At 15 months they are like teenagers....and may just rebel and want to do what they want. I would suggest you get enrolled into a formal obedience class with her, and at home start NILIF (do a google search). This method makes her work for everything, and helps to set some boundries and shows leadership.

If she stops dead while walking....make some circles and keep her moving...don't allow her to win. If you ride horses...it's the same method. :)
